Maya V Henry

Maya Henry

Maya Henry is a Toronto based actress and social media content creator. She graduated from Ryerson University with a BFA in Film Studies with a focus on film editing and screenwriting. In 2014, Maya created her YouTube channel as a way to chronicle her transition and share her experience with the world. Seven years later, she has amassed over 27 million video views and built a YouTube family of over 215 thousand subscribers. In September of 2017, Maya made her acting debut, starring in a short film titled, “For Nonna Anna” which made its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and won a Special Jury Prize at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. Her most recent role is the title character in the feature "Dawn, Her Dad, and the Tractor", which debuted at the 2021 Inside Out Festival in Toronto.

Robb Wells

Known to audiences across Canada and around the world as Ricky in the cult hit Netflix series Trailer Park Boys, Robb is committed to this project and in June 2017, shot the short film Pearls, the prequel to this film. Robb is excited to play a character that will challenge him and reveal quite a different set of acting chops than his alter-ego, Ricky in Trailer Park Boys, has employed. He says, “I’m committed to this project because I think it deals with a subject whose time has clearly come, and I hope it will impact a broad audience, building awareness of the sensitivity and compassion needed in issues involving trans individuals.” Wells has been seen in numerous other projects including Virginia’s Run starring Gabriel Byrne and Joanne Whalley, Boondock Saints 2, Hobo with a Shotgun, Jackhammer, the FX TV series Archer, as well as the feature films Beatdown and Relative Happiness directed by Deanne Foley.

Amy Groening

Amy Groening is a Canadian actress from Winnipeg who now splits her time between Toronto, Winnipeg and Atlantic Canada. She began her career collaborating with the Grindhouse filmmakers, leading to her first lead role in their feature film Fathers Day, followed by such projects as 20th Century Fox’s Goon and Space Channel’s Todd And The Book Of Pure Evil. Most recently Amy has appeared as a guest star on CBC’s season 8 of Mr. D and in a supporting role on the feature film Spinster, starring Chelsea Peretti.

Reid began his career in London, Ontario but now calls Nova Scotia home, where much of his family is from; mostly Weymouth Falls. Starting as a stand up comedian, Reid gravitated towards the camera and has been cast in numerous commercials and film projects in comedic and dramatic roles. Some of his most recent screen credits include Diggstown (CBC, BET), Mr. D (CBC), and Trailer Park Boys (Swearnet). Look for him in the upcoming TV series, Chapelwaite (EPIX), and Feudal (CBC). Recent feature films include: Shush, Bone Cage, ETHN and Dawn, Her Dad & the Tractor.

Taylor Olson

Taylor Olson

Taylor is an actor, writer and filmmaker based in Halifax, N.S. A graduate of the Dalhousie University Acting Program, Taylor works in film, television and theatre. A multiple ACTRA Maritime and Screen NS nominee, his credits include the feature films Ariyah and Tristan’s Inevitable Break Up, Noon Gun, Afraid to Speak, Your Money or Your Wife, You Ruined Our Life, Black Cop, and Halloween Party. He has also appeared in recurring series roles in OutTV’s Sex & Violence and CBC’s Pure, as well as many short films, including award-winning Hustle and Heart.

Breton Lalama

Breton (like the crackers or the cape) is a queer, trans human person who does a lot of different things. Performance Highlights include: InsideOut Festival Workshop, 2020 Merrit Award Nominee, 2018 Emerging Artist Award (Theatre Ontario), 2014 Broadway World Award (Best Featured in a Touring Production), Neptune Theatre, Winter Garden Theatre, First Ontario PAC, Toronto Center for the Performing Arts, Hair National Tour. Breton is also an accordion-playing stand-up comedian, a playwright, and a drag performer.

Richie Wilcox

Richie Wilcox

Richie Wilcox is an educator, a fiercely queer artist, and a creative collaborator. He is the founding artistic director of the live art company Heist based in K’jipuktuk/Halifax. In four short years with Heist, Wilcox has helped create The Princess Show, Princess Rules, Nature Vs. Nation, New Waterford Boy, FACE and Frequencies. He’s worked with numerous companies across the Maritimes and Canada including Neptune, Festival Antigonish, 2B Theatre, Kazan Co-Op, Opera Nova Scotia and is currently the artistic director of the Ship’s Company Theatre in Awokun/Parrsboro. Richie was recipient of the Mayor’s Award for Emerging Theatre Artist in 2007 and a Merritt award for outstanding performance in 2017.

Francine Deschepper

Francine Deschepper is a Halifax based actor who has worked both nationally and internationally. She has been nominated for seven Robert Merritt Awards for outstanding performance in theatre and two ACTRA Maritimes Awards for film and TV. Credits include the features Hopeless Romantic and Weirdos.; and for television The Mist (Spike), This Hour Has 22 Minutes (CBC), You And Me (CBC), Sex & Violence (Out TV), Seed (City TV), Call Me Fitz (HBO Canada), and Haven (SyFy).

Bette MacDonald

Bette MacDonald

Bette MacDonald is a Gemini and Screen Nova Scotia Award winner and a multiple Canadian Screen Award nominee. She’s starred in two CBC television series and has been a guest on many including, This Hour Has 22 Minutes and Made In Canada. She was guest host of CBC radio’s Madly Off In All Directions, hosted the East Coast Music Awards telecast and was a long time favourite headliner at the Halifax Comedy Festival. Bette stars in and is the co-writer, of Tis The Season, a holiday-themed show that has toured Nova Scotia and beyond, playing to packed houses and rave reviews. Bette played outspoken school secretary, Trudy Walsh on CBC’s Mr. D.

Hans Böggild

Hans Böggild has a fifty-year career in Canadian theatre, film and television. His work has included acting, directing, story editing, playwriting, and a position as Artistic Producer of Eastern Front Theatre. As a theatre producer, he's brought numerous new plays to the stage, including his own works.

MUSIC

Music for Dawn Her Dad & the Tractor has been created by Nova Scotia Songwriters Rose Cousins and Breagh Isabel.

Original new songs for the film’s soundtrack: Get Home, Build Again, Hello Morning and Love Without Warning will be heard first in the film.
